Virtual Freight Inspections Announces Retirement of Co-Founder Donald Barranco

Co-founder and president of Virtual Freight Inspections (VFI), Donald Barranco, will retire after more than 10 years of leadership and entrepreneurial inspiration. Virtual Freight Inspections offers comprehensive and seasoned inspection services and packaging analysis for the motor carrier industry.

Barranco started the freight inspection company in 2004, and has been instrumental in its growth and mission to be the transportation industry’s trusted source for independent, professional data gathering and reporting. He retires with more than 30 years of leadership in the transportation industry.

Matthew Hakes, co-founder, CTO and partner will assume the role of president for the company and will continue with the plans for growth that he and Barranco set into motion. Hakes has recently complemented his IT skills with a master’s degree in organizational development from Alverno College.

Don Mealy, vice president and partner with VFI, has worked side-by-side with Barranco to assist with the transition and the management of the company. Mealy has more than 20 years of insurance industry experience. Prior positions with Wausau Insurance and Associated Financial Group enables Mealy to bring carrier incite to VFI’s investigation and expert testimony.

Barranco will remain active with Virtual Freight Inspections as an executive consultant, continuing to share his vision for the VFI’s growth.
